About

Fantastical worlds, machines and characters made a big impression on me from an early age. I can clearly remember watching Tim Burtons ‘Batman’ in the early 90’s with awe, before drawing the Batmobile over and over and making endless versions out of Lego. With games I grew up playing Doom, followed by Quake and Half-life, enjoying the journey games have taken from fairly simple gameplay to immersive cinematic experiences. These titles were the beginning of my obsession with sci-fi and fantasy design, and lead me to this path of concept design for games and film where the constraints of reality can be suspended, allowing what is in my opinion the most enjoyable creative experience a designer can have.

I combine my understanding of real world design practices as learnt in my undergraduate Industrial design degree with the methods honed during my Concept art post grad course. Using this knowledge I design characters, vehicles and environments that possess a crucial sense of believability, but with an imaginative slant that takes them beyond to create a new experience for the audience.

This blog exists as a home to my own drawing, painting and 3D development. A big focus this year is on traditional drawing fundamentals, along with gaining more 3D knowledge to improve the diversity of my skill set.

Feel free to get in touch via twitter, linkedin or email. I am always interested in hearing what people have to say about my work or anything else within the industry, and projects that i could help with. Here's hoping we all have a great 2014!
